DNA Topoisomerases

Abstract
DNA topoisomerases control DNA superhelicity and play important roles in various cellular processes occuring on DNA. The efficiencies of replication, transcription and recombination are greatly affected by inactivation of the enzymes. The inhibitors of DNA topoisomerases are used as antibiotic and anticancer drugs. The inhibitors are thought to cause cell death by the blockage of replication and/or by inducing DNA damage.
